Description

The publication The Silence of the Mole expands upon the project presented in the Czech and Slovak pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale by artists Jakub Jansa and Alex Selmeci with Tomáš Kocka Jusko, together with curator Peter Sit. Marking the pavilion's centenary, the exhibition explores the transformation of cultural symbols, the fatigue associated with them, and the diminishing role of imagination today. The book documents the exhibition architecture, objects, and films and, in its essays, addresses cultural diplomacy, silence, and sound as forms of resistance, architecture beneath the surface, and the philosophical image of the mole as a hidden subversive force. In doing so, it opens up a multilayered field of relations between past and present, body, voice, and silence.
