Steinberg byl člověk se širokým kulturně politickým rozhledem, což se projevilo v jeho díle, které pojednává o každodenním lidském životě s jeho paradoxy. Sám sebe charakterizoval jako kreslícího spisovatele. Mezilidské vztahy vnímal jako výřez spojení a zároveň vzájemného nepochopení až odcizení. Katalog je věnován Steinbergovým kresbám ze sbírek Národní galerie v Praze, jež jsou velkorysým darem americké nadace The Saul Steinberg foundation, New York.

This small publication presents the American artist with Romanian roots Saul Steinberg (1914-1999), an exceptional cartoonist and caricaturist. Steinberg was a man with a broad cultural and political outlook, which is reflected in his work, which deals with everyday human life with its paradoxes. He described himself as a cartoonist. He saw interpersonal relationships as a cutout of connection and at the same time mutual misunderstanding to the point of alienation. The catalogue is dedicated to Steinberg's drawings from the collections of the National Gallery in Prague, which are a generous gift from The Saul Steinberg Foundation, New York.
