This inventory catalogue presents what is the largest and structurally most comprehensive grouping of old European art in the National Gallery Prague’s collections – a set of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Dutch paintings that have so far not been expertly appraised. Some of the included artworks have not been previously published according to current academic standards. In addition to some famous works (Rembrandt van Rijn, Frans Hals), there are many painting that are unknown to both the professional and the general public. In addition to technical information (pigment analysis, restoration data, dendrochronology), the catalogue also reflects the thorough use of literature and other sources.
